Report to the school community

Present Robert Greene, Sinéad Watson, Eamonn O’Hanrahan, Graham Byrne, Kenia Puig Planella, Michelle Adebisi

The school only advertise events in the newsletter that are school events, on school premises or have a charitable purpose for a registered charity. It was agreed to reiterate this point in the next newsletter

Donna Connolly has notified the Board that she will be resigning.

The Attendance Rate of pupils from 2014 to present were analysed and discussed, and priority will be given to reviewing & implanting an updated attendance policy

€2500 HSE National Lottery Grant has been granted to help complete sensory room.

The Robert Dunbar Library grant has been applied for by the school.

The condition of the upper field after bad weather will need to be addressed as it is almost at the stage where children can’t run on it anymore.

2018 intake pre enrolment lists were discussed, the current enrolment is 377 pupils

Whole School Evaluation:

There will be a whole school evaluation from 6th-10th November. The inspectors have requested to meet with;

  • Members of the Board
  • Members of the PA
  • Members of the in-school management team
  • The principal

A date for these meetings will be given when the inspectors arrive and there will be feedback on their findings on the 15th November to staff, chairperson of the board & the PTA

Vision Evening: Feedback from staff on the Vision Evening was discussed & notes from the vision evening will be sent to the school community and it was agreed that a survey should be sent to parents who were unable to attend, so that everyone has the opportunity to have their input

Official opening: The school opening was a great success. There was an excellent turnout by the school community and the children enjoyed the afternoon.

ET Report:

ET have asked the Board to look at strategy statement – the Board will do this and feedback at the next meeting

PA Report:

The Board signed off on the following events:

  • Halloween bake sale this Friday
  • Maker Festival 19th November (including a family movie evening in the hall)
  • AGM to be held on November 23rd

It was proposed that the Board publish its annual report detailing all the work and achievements over the year – this could be included in Principal’s end of year letter to the school community.

A note was sent home regarding safe parking around the school area. A group of volunteers have agreed to help with this issue.
