Wicklow Educate Together National School Board of Management Meeting 13th December 2016 – Report to the School Community

School Finances The school hasn’t received the Capitation grant yet and is still awaiting many sundries payments. It was noted that there will be increased costs as this is the first year in the new school building.

PTA Yvonne and all the members of the PTA were thanked for all their hard work in recent years and for their recent work ensuring that the Christmas fair was a success. Rob and Kenia attended the Parents National Council talk, feedback was provided on some of the issues raised.

Premises Snag list items and heating issues were discussed. A standard cover letter that will be submitted to maintenance contractors for our maintenance agreements. It is a statutory requirement that the fire alarm is checked on a quarterly basis. Other systems will also need to be maintained such as the plumbing, heating and electricity. A maintenance schedule will be devised

Percent for Art the work of the subcommittee is ongoing.

Health and Safety A Health and Safety audit of the new school building will shortly be arranged

IT Quotes for two new projectors for the school were considered as well as some iPad quotes. The new website is now up and running

Special needs there is a review of the SNA scheme submissions by 22nd December the school will make a submission, ET are also making a submission.

Pre-Enrolment offer of places will issue in the new year for 2017 junior infants

School transport new bus route from Arklow started for pupils in ASD classes. A new escort is still needed.

School policies Questionnaire to be sent to parents regarding school code of behaviour in January. There was a discussion around the need for sub-committees, protocols and procedures will be in place before any sub-committees are created.

After school activities Lisa Jervis has been appointed as facilities manager & coordinator. It is hoped that the new programme will be ready in January after the registration evening. The BoM has decided to offer a local choir use of the school hall after school hours on a trial basis, for a rental charge.
