This month in Aistear our theme is ‘People in our community’. We had a number of Aistear stations…. a garden centre in the role play area,  a sand station where we built a community featuring a fire station, a Garda station, shops, schools etc. We had a map drawing station where we imagined we were birds flying over our community and we drew the scene from a birds eye view, we had a junk art station where we made equipment for the workers such as a boat for the boat rescue team or a fire hose for the fire station and finally we had a small world station where we created a community using bricks and various materials. Aistear is every second day this term to facilitate the cleaning of all of the resources.

In PE we got to use the parachute this week and everyone really enjoyed the experience especially as we had the top field all to ourselves in the beautiful sunshine.

On Friday we released our butterfly into the garden. We had watched him transform from a baby caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly, I’m sure he will be very happy amongst all of our daffodils which have finally bloomed.

In Maths we introduced our 3D shapes and revised our numbers 1-5. In Irish we have started on a new theme  ‘Siopadóireacht’ (shopping), in English we are reading every morning and continuing with our handwriting this week we learnt how to form the letters, ‘e’, ‘f’ and ‘s’.
