For the last week we have had great fun exploring the theme of the ourselves and our body parts. The class have been engaged in learning through Aistear, working on different stations all centred around this theme. Whether we are role playing being doctors, receptionists or patients or building doctors surgeries in our small world station or drawing Maps of Wicklow to help us find the Hospital, everyone has been steeped in the vocabulary of this theme. We have been learning the rhymes Dr. Foster went to Gloucester, Miss Polly had a Dolly and Lámh, lámh eile, these all help us engage in our learning.

The children have been using vocabulary such as stethoscopes, injections, x-ray machines, bandages, thermometers, medicines , prescriptions, waiting rooms, injury, injections and syringes, to name but a few.

In Irish we are still exploring Mé Féin and the main vocab this week has been focused on body parts: lámh cos, srón, súíl, cluas, smig, beal , fiacla.

In maths we are looking at matching objects based on one or two attributes.

In English we are continuing with our letter sounds and we took a day or two to recap the sounds this week we have covered before we move on.

In Learn Together we focused on the Jewish festival ‘Rosh Hashanah’.

Other activities this week included our hand print art which the children took home on Friday and our colour walk around the school.
