The lead up to the midterm break was a busy week. We made delicious brown bread and butter following The Little Red Hen’s famous recipe. In English and History we read and sequenced the story ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson. In PE we played some Halloween games such as ‘Witches Frogs and Fairies’ and made an obstacle course around the witches garden.

The children completed group 3 of the Jolly Phonics letter sounds. Thank you for the great work you are doing at home, it is wonderful to see the progress the children are making at this early stage of the year.

Our Irish lessons focused on ‘Oíche Shamhna’ (Halloween). The children enjoyed learning the songs and poems ‘Puca Puca’ and ‘Oíche Shamhna’.

I didn’t recognise some of the children on dress up day, they looked terrific in their costumes. In class we had a fashion show to the song ‘Monster Mash’ and played the game ‘Witchy Witchy, Where’s Your Broom?’. We finished the day with a short popcorn party and a story from the ‘Winnie the Witch’ series.

Enjoy looking through the photographs from some of our lessons and activities this week and I hope you all have a lovely midterm break.
