This year the mid-term break will begin on Friday, October 24th – Please note that Friday 24th October will be a normal school day with no early close for any class. We will reopen on Monday, 3rd November at 8.40am.

Driving Speed on school Grounds
A reminder please that driving on the school grounds is limited to a speed of 10 m.p.h. It is essential that this rule is followed for the safety of the children and our wider school community.
6th class hoodies
A gentle reminder that Tuesday 4th November is the final date for payment for the 6th class hoodies.
??♀️ Dress Up Day Friday 24th October
On the day of the midterm break, all of the children are invited to dress up if they wish and to bring €2 on the day. They may also bring a small treat (not for sharing) with their lunch. Dressing up is optional and if some children are not comfortable dressing up, they can wear their normal clothes to school on the day. We ask that costumes are practical and easy for your child to manage throughout the school day-for the bathroom, the yard, sitting in a classroom-for example high heels or inflatables can be tricky. No scary costumes, props, weapons or masks please. The emphasis is on fun not frightening.
All proceeds from dress up will be used to purchase classroom games and resources.
Student Council
Our Student Council for 2025-26 were elected earlier this term and we are delighted to introduce them to you:
Elwood, Zara, Vytaute and Ciaran from 6th class
Tamara, Tom, Jessica and Taj from 5th class
Finn, Robyn, Hayden, Rosie from 4th class
Roxanne, Leah-Alice, Ilias and Jude from 3rd Class
They will be attending a workshop next term with the Ombudsman for Children to then work alongside Eamonn in further developing the role of the student council in our school – watch this space for more news and info from the Student Council!
Taitneamh Homework
A reminder that Taitneamh homework is due on Friday 24th October for 3rd to 6th classes. Please find attached the taitneamh booklet.
Junior Assembly – everyone showed Respect!
RESPECT was the core value that we learned about as part of Learn Together this month. It is a core value that we know is so important and one that permeates our school.
All the junior classes have worked hard on different lessons looking at what respect means in school, at home and in the wider world. Today at junior assembly, the children in 2nd class Green, with their teacher Eileen showed us all the posters they had made with key messages about respect, they recited the poem they had learned, and then sang the song, Respect, including using a sign language.

??♀️?Cycle on Wednesday (COW), Scoot on Wednesday (SOW) Walk on Wednesday (WOW)
We are delighted to announce our first Golden Boot Award Winners of the 2025-26 school year. The Golden Boots are presented each week to the junior class (Junior Infants to 2nd Class) and the Senior Class (3rd to 6th class) that recorded the most COW, SOW or WOW points on Wednesday.
The winners for this week are:
Junior Class Winner: Junior Infants green
Senior Class Winner: 6th class green
On Wednesday, they were the classes that walked, cycled, scooted, bussed or car-pooled most to and from school. The Green Schools committee will visit each classroom every Wednesday to count the number of pupils who were able to travel to and from school using COW SOW WOW.

WINTER FAIR 2025 – save the date – Sunday, 23rd November
The PTA are delighted that the Winter Fair will go ahead this year, and we are looking forward to welcoming you all on SUNDAY 23rd NOVEMBER between 12pm and 4pm to the school.
In preparation for the winter fair we would greatly appreciate and encourage you to get involved in helping both before, during and after the fair. Your help and support are needed and greatly appreciated in the following ways:
Craft/Goods Stalls Are you interested in renting and operating a stall on the day? Please email pta@wicklowetns.com to express an interest, by Friday, 24th October.
Raffle Prizes We are looking for donations of goods, items or services . If you would like to donate a prize or would be happy to ask for a prize donation in your workplace, we would greatly appreciate it. In addition, if you are a business owner and would like to offer any services and/or prizes as part of the raffle, please email us to pta@wicklowetns.com.
Bottle Stall Can you donate pre-loved and unopened bottles (perfumes, food items, alcohol)? We will separately send dates/times of when these items can be dropped to the school.
Please note we will not be accepting any clothes/toys/books or bric-a-brac this year so please do not donate any of these items for the fair.
We are really looking forward to a lovely event for the whole school community to come together.
