Board of Management Update [further detail available on website]

The Board of Management held its first meeting of the school year on Tuesday 19th September 2017. The Board welcomed Graham Byrne as a Parent Nominee to BOM replacing Jerry O’Neill, and congratulated Eamonn on the birth of his new son Niall. We were unsuccessful in 2 grant applications -the County facility grant & the Agenda 21 grant. Infant Collection is now being done from both side gates and is working well.

The Anti-bullying and Child Protection policies were reviewed and oversight checks completed. These are on display throughout the school and on the website. The revised enrolment policy will be put in place from the 30th September, and available to view on the website.

The county Engineer has been to the school to correct some traffic safety issues.

ET Fundraiser, October PA will organise. Class Liaisons in place, first meeting of PA will take place on the 3rd October and the AGM will take place on the 23rd of November.

Percent for Art – submissions have been received and are under review.

Sundry Payment 2017/2018 – Thank you to all parents/guardians who have paid their 2017/2018 sundry payment. If you have not already done so we would like to remind you that the sundry payment of €70.00 (or €120.00 if more than one child in the school) is now overdue.

W.O.W.: W.O.W. (Walk/Wheel on Wednesdays)    – Mobility Subcommittee:

  • WOW!! Well done to Alison’s 3rd class who finally caught up with 6th class and scooped the Golden Boot Award from under their feet!! Congratulations also to Louise’s 1st class who remain unbeaten in the junior half of the school, retaining their Golden Boot Award for the 2nd month running!
  • Thank you to all who have been respectful, patient and understanding of our safe parking and set down system this week.
  • Please remember to drive all the way through to the yellow set down zone (beyond the red bus zone) and then pull in to use set down. Kindly move on once children have safely alighted.

WETNS Extra-Curricular Update

Reminder, any outstanding payments for ECA should be paid directly into our ECA bank account (stating your family name) or bring payment in to office in an envelope clearly marked (your child’s name, which activity and how much) for the attention of Lisa.

Reminder. Our Junior and Senior Infants afterschool activities finish at 2.20pm each day. Late pick-ups have a knock on effect for organising the later ECA classes.

Snack time – please remember to bring a snack and extra drink for the start of each activity.

WETNS Breakfast Club                                                                                                                                                                                 Spaces are still available in our Breakfast Club.  If you would like some more information please contact us at [email protected] . Expression of Interest Aftercare post 3.30pm – Moving forward with an overall development plan for our school, we are considering remaining open until after 5pm five days a week. If you feel you may be interested in this service, please fill out an expression of interest form available in our foyer and drop it into the blue box in the foyer. Please contact [email protected] if you’ve any questions re extra-curricular.

Please remember there are no dogs allowed on the school grounds as well as no smoking.

Please note there are still a number of baking trays and lost jackets by the centre stairwell if you would like to check at drop off to see if there is anything that belongs to you.

Parents Association Update

WETNS MAKERS CRAFT AND GIFT FAIR – NOVEMBER Sunday 19th 2017

WETNS Maker’s Craft and Gift Fair on 19th November 2017. We have a fabulous line up of quality stallholders offering the best of local crafts and perfect unique gifts for the coming holiday season. Please come and support our local crafters both from the school community and the wider Wicklow community. Please also get involved by coming to help for an hour on the day, we need your help at the tea and coffee stand, the pocket money toy store and the kids craft room. We will be decorating gingerbread men, making pine cone ornaments, and woolly fairies.

The pocket money toy store on the day is to raise funds for your school. Please gather all forgotten or unloved toys and books in your house and we will collect them from the hall at drop off next Monday 13th and Thursday 16th. A toy shop will be created at the fair and toys will be sold at pocket money prices.

There are also a limited number of places left for children’s stalls at €10 per stall please apply on their behalf for a stall to [email protected]

North Wicklow Educate Together Secondary School Open Night – Thurs 16th November

You are invited to NWETTSS Open Night next Thurs 16th Nov from 5.30pm to 8pm.  The school is located on Putland Road, Bray. This relaxed and informative evening is open to all prospective students and parents/guardians/carers.  There will be a presentation by the Principal at 6pm and 7.30pm, in addition to guided tours of the school. We have now opened applications for First Year entry in September 2019.  Applications are taken online only  – please see our website here for further information: https://www.northwicklowetsecondary.ie/admissions-for-2019/
