The Board of Management will consider the feedback at our meeting in December and will prioritise which areas we will focus on.  We may then look for parent volunteers to help “project manage” the work, which will obviously be overseen by the BoM, in consultation with the staff of the school.

We will keep you posted.

Pre- Enrolment – Please remember our pre- enrolment policy is first come first served so siblings do not automatically get a place so please ensure you have sent in a pre-enrolment form for any siblings.

Wet Mornings – Due to confined space on a wet morning in the hall, we would ask that parents of older children consider dropping their children at the doors of the hall to allow more space for the younger children.

Yard Update – The large grassed area to the rear of the school is currently not fit for use in wet, or following wet weather and we are working with Sammon to try to address these issues. From today the path and set down area to the front of the school will be used by 2nd – 6th class pupils. Please note that this area will be closed for cars during school hours 10am to 1.10pm. There are very few vehicles accessing the school during these times but if there are, they can drive through the staff car park and out by the normal way.

Extra-Curricular ActivitiesTerm 1 of our extra-curricular activities will finish on Thursday 22nd December. However, as we missed a class on 16th & 17th October there will be a Science, Yoga, Soccer & Guitar class on Monday 8th January and a Playball class on Tuesday 9th January to make up that the day.

Term 2 will commence on Monday 15th January. Full details of registration process for those already attending a class this term & those who would like to join in term 2 will be issued shortly.

Parents Association Update

Maker’s Craft and Gift Fair – Thank you to all who came out to support our school at WETNS Makers Craft and Gift Fair on Sunday. Thank you to the lovely and talented stallholders both from within the school and the wider community who were in the most part delighted with the successful trade on the day. Thank you to the contributors of toys, books and mince pies. Both the tea and coffee stand and the pocket money toy store contributed significantly to the overall success of the event. Thank you to our 6th class children who ran the pocket money toy store from start to finish, carefully looking after each customer and ensuring the nobody left without a very good bargain! A major thank you to the dedicated team of volunteers on the day, from those who were there working hard for 6 hours to those who offered a lending hand where they could, the fair would not have run so smoothly without each and every one of you so thank you very much. Approximately €800 was raised on the day and this has pushed us a lot closer to achieving our goal of funding the purchase of a PA system for future children’s school performances and events. Thank you to Squirrel Scramble who partnered us in a competition to boost publicity for the event page and donated a family voucher in our Like and Share competition. Congratulations to Fiona Finn who was the lucky winner of a family day at Squirrel Scramble in Kilruderry.

2018 School Calendars – Please keep an eye on school bags in the next week. We will be sending out order forms for the school calendars. The class photos were a great success thank you to our talented photographer teachers Damien and Isobel and thank you to the class teachers who prepared the children for their themed photos. The local community have already kindly pledged their support for the calendar by sponsoring each month in the calendar. Hopefully, funds raised from the school calendar will be sufficient to reach our target to buy the school a PA system!

Halloween Bake sale – For all who baked, purchased and volunteered at the recent Halloween Bake sale, thank you very much. Approximately €400 was made for the PA system fund!

Please pick up any remaining baking containers from lost property promptly.

AGM – A date for the next Parent Association AGM will be announced shortly. It is not on this Thursday, this was a typo in recent correspondence.

Class Lists – Due to unforeseen circumstances we are reverting to a class list contact sheet. The PA Committee will work closely with the Class Liaisons in the coming weeks to prepare and issue any outstanding class lists. Please carefully store this information, it is circulated to those who signed a consent form and is only for use by those who signed the consent form. Please use the information sensitively and please be respectful in all communications. Where the information is used to set up group discussions, these group discussions are for general information topics and should not be used to discuss private topics or discuss any individuals from our school community.
