Important Message To All Who Have Applied For A Place in Junior Infants in Sept 2018

An email and text were sent before Christmas re ‘confirmation of interest’ in a place to all who have applied for Junior Infants in Sept 2018. If you did not receive it then your child’s name is not on our current intake list and you need to email [email protected] or phone the school office immediately. We would like to remind parents that we do not have a sibling policy here at the school so please ensure you complete a pre- enrolment form as early as possible if required. First round of offers will be distributed by the end of January.

Party Invitations – reminder that party invitations should be distributed outside of school.

Garda Vetting – If you are considering volunteering some of your time to help at the school over the coming months please ensure you complete your Garda vetting as early as possible. Garda vetting is required in advance of any volunteer work including reading in class, literacy lift off, school tours, library volunteers etc. Please request a form from Lisa at the school office and once completed bring it to the school office with photo ID (passport/driving licence) and proof of address (utility bill, bank statement etc)

Mobility Subcommittee – Set down has been running smoothly most mornings. Thank you all for your patience and co-operation! We would love a few more volunteers to help with supervision. If you could do one morning a fortnight (only 20mins!) that would be brilliant. Please email [email protected].

Extra-Curricular Activities – Thank you to everyone who came along to the extra-curricular registration last week. Classes started on Monday 15th January and this term will run until Thursday 22nd March.

If you are still interested in registering for an activity please contact [email protected] today.

Reminder that term 2 registration fees must be paid by Friday 2nd February.

W.O.W. (Walk/wheel on Wednesdays) Welcome back! For those of you who are new to our school, here is what happens every Wednesday! We want as many children and staff as possible to walk to school on the day. There are lots of great reasons for this. Firstly, travelling by car causes lots of pollution, it also uses lots of resources and causes traffic problems too. By walking to school, you can stay fit and healthy, be wide awake for school & keep our planet green!

Children and parents don’t travel as part of a formal walk to school scheme like a walking bus, they walk their own route & at their own time.

Don’t worry if you can’t walk on the day, there are lots of other ways to travel that are good for you and for the environment! You can scoot, cycle, use the school bus, car pool or “park ‘n’ stride”. So, if you do have to come to school by car, try stopping a little bit further from the school than usual and walk the rest of the way. For those in Breakfast Club, children are invited to take part in some pre-school exercises so they too can score points for their class.

The class that scores the most points for coming to school by walking, scooting or cycling, car-pooling, “park ‘n’ stride” or by bus, will win the ‘Golden Boot’ Award! The winning class will be announced at assembly on the last Friday of every month! Be safe, be seen! Please wear hi-vis vests if you have them.

Well done to all those who have been participating in WETNS WOW up to now! It seems Edele’s 6th & Louise’s 1st class are unstoppable!! But maybe not! Play your part for your class & score a point by walking, scooting, park & striding etc! So, get those walking shoes & helmets on and we will see you all bright and early on Wednesday January 10th! J
