Registration night for those who have received an offer of a place for Junior Infants 2018 will be held on Thursday 8th March.

School photos will be taken on Wednesday 14th March this year.

Our school Sports Day will take place on Thursday 14th June. Further information to follow.

6th Class graduation will take place on Thursday 28th June this year.

School Photos – Wednesday 14th March – School photos will be taken on Wednesday 14th March. Photos will be taken of all children unless you inform the school in advance. It is not obligatory to purchase these photos. Sample photos will be sent to you so you can decide if you wish to purchase them. There will be a group photo for Junior Infants and 6th class only. 6th class black and white graduation photos will also be taken on that day.

Extra-Curricular Activities Update

February Breakfast Club & Homework Club fees – Reminder that February fees for our Breakfast club and Homework club are now due. Please pay online where possible (IBAN & BIC information below) or cheque/cash at the school office.

Arts & Crafts/Irish Dancing/Chess – we will run our arts and crafts, Irish dancing and Chess class on Thursday 12th April (term 3 registration week) to make up for the missed classes last Thursday 1st March.

Extra-Curricular Term 3 – Term 2 of our extra-curricular programme will finish on Thursday 22nd March. Registration for term 3 will take place the first week back after the Easter holidays Tuesday 10th – Thursday 12th April. Full details of all our term 3 classes will be sent out prior to the Easter holidays.

Aftercare up to 6pm each day – Thank you to all the parents/guardians who completed our recent aftercare survey. Over the last 12 months we have rolled out a comprehensive extra-curricular programme here at the school and a new breakfast club. As a school we are fully committed to expanding this facility further and over the coming months we will plan and organise the rollout of aftercare up to 6pm here at the school. We are working towards an opening date of September 2018.

Literacy Lift-off – Our literacy lift-off programme for Senior Infants & 1st class will finish this week. We would like to thank all the parent volunteers who supported this wonderful programme. We could not have delivered such a comprehensive programme of activities for the children without all of your support. The last 3 days of the Senior infants programme will be completed by the school staff this week. The Senior Infants will receive their certificates this Friday 9th March at 11am and we would like to invite the parents who volunteered for the Senior Infants literacy-lift-offs programme to come in at 11 for the handing out of the certificates.

Intercultural Week – We would like to thank all the staff, children and parents/guardians who participated in our Intercultural week. We had a wonderful week of activities here at the school and it was fantastic to see so many cultures represented. A big thank you to all those who volunteered at the food fair on the Thursday. Teacher Alan will share further details on the school website shortly.

Headlice – We continue to implore all parents/guardians to check your child/children’s hair and treat headlice as a matter of urgency. Please where possible tie long hair back.

Credit Union Quiz – Two teams from Wicklow Educate Together competed in the annual Credit Union Quiz. A team from 4th class and a team from 6th class. It was a great night all round. The 6th class team came second and the fourth class team came fifth. Everyone did really well and had a great time. Sophia 6th class.

Middletown Centre for Autism – Middletown centre for Autism are running courses for parents from April in St Catherine’s in Newcastle. The link for the courses are below.

Garda Vetting – If you are considering volunteering at the school over the coming months please ensure you complete your Garda vetting as early as possible. Garda vetting is required in advance of any volunteer work including reading in class, literacy lift off, school tours, library volunteers, Intercultural week etc. Please request a form from Lisa at the school office and once completed bring it to the school office with photo ID (passport/driving licence) and proof of address (utility bill, bank statement etc).

PTA Committee 2018

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Saint Patrick’s Day would not be Saint Patrick’s Day in Wicklow Town without our wonderful parade. This year the theme is “Rock Legends”. As usual, Wicklow Educate Together N.S. PTA plans to represent our amazing school in style. Participation forms for pupils of the school will follow shortly in school bags — please watch for these! In the meantime, if you have a little time to spare and would like to be involved in organising our entry, your help would be greatly appreciated. The parade will take place on Saturday March 17th at 1.00pm.

St. Patrick’s Weekend Bake sale and Coffee Morning 16th March – This year we will be holding a St Patrick’s Weekend Bake sale and Parents Coffee morning on Friday 16th March. There will be the usual baking homework goodies and coffee and tea for parents. Baking homework for 2nd-6th classes. There will be an event suggestion box for PTA events/activities at the coffee morning as well as a volunteer signup sheet. We’d love to hear your ideas!

Lions Club Table Quiz Final Night – this Wednesday 7th March at 8.30pm in the Grand Hotel. To participate WETNS must supply a minimum of 2 tables. Tables of 4 for €40. If you would like to come along on the night for some fun, please let us know!

Lions Club Table Quiz to Benefit WETNS — RESCHEDULED! –  The Wicklow Lions club in conjunction with Wicklow Educate Together N.S. PTA Table Quiz is rescheduled for 14 March at 8:30pm in Wicklow Golf Club. Tables of 4 cost €40. At the end of the table quiz season the Lions Club make a donation to Wicklow Educate Together proportional to our representation at the table quiz. Please show up to support! if you haven’t a full table, teams can be formed on the night. Last year the Lions Club donated €400 to Wicklow Educate Together.

Parenting Courses – The following NPC Parents Courses have been booked and will be held in the school for parents and guardians of WETNS. These courses will be funded by the PTA.

Thursday March 22nd 7.30-9.30pm “Supporting your child to build healthy friendships and relationships”

Monday May 21st 7.30-9.30pm “Supporting parents to support their children’s mental health and wellbeing”
