Schools Climbing Competition – A big congratulations to the 25 kids who competed at the Schools Climbing Competition on 8th March. We had 6 teams, and all were fantastic not only in their climbing but also in their patience in awaiting their chance to climb in a very busy environment (even busier than last year). The U8 team of Leon, Eva, Oscar (all in 1st class) and Luke (sr infants) took 2nd place and were fantastic in their support of each other as they took to the walls. The two WETNS teams in the 8-9 category- The Four Musketeers and Wicklow Monkeys – took 4 and 5th place. Caelin (5th) took second place in the 10+ category, and WETNS teams were in the top 20, which was no mean feat in the most populated age category with serious climbers from around the country. Well done to all, and a special cheer for the parents, who didn’t get to climb anything except metaphorical walls while waiting, chaperoning, and not even getting to sit down much and chat over coffee! It was fantastic to see so many kids enjoying themselves and being so supportive of each other as they cheered on their classmates.PS Also interesting to note that ET schools across Ireland were strongly represented, with some coming from as far as Tramore. Photos on our school website shortly!

Garda Vetting – If you are considering volunteering at the school please ensure you complete your Garda vetting as early as possible. Garda vetting is required in advance of any volunteer work including reading in class, literacy lift off, school tours, library volunteers, Intercultural week etc. Please request a form from Lisa at the school office and once completed bring it to the school office with photo ID (passport/driving licence) and proof of address (utility bill, bank statement etc).

Congratulations to all who took part and represented our school, taking away the Best School Entry on the day.

St. Patrick’s Weekend Bakesale and Coffee Morning 16th March

Thank you to all who supported the bakesale. We made €582 that will contribute to the Summer terms outdoor budget.

Lions Club Table Quiz

Thank you to those who braved the elements to support our WETNS Lions Club Table

Quiz. Unfortunately, WETNS table numbers were significantly down from other years and therefore the Lions Club contribution fell to €185 for the school. We are however very grateful to the Lions Club for their generosity and for working with us to hold a Table Quiz night for our benefit. A fun night and lots of raffle prizes were won by the WETNS contingent who attended.

Next Term

Next term we will be working on Bike to School week and a Family Fundraising Fun Day – if you have any suggestions or can offer support or sponsorship for either of these events please email us at [email protected].
