If you would like to help out at any of these events but are not already Garda vetted for our school, please contact the school office to complete the relevant paperwork within the next few days.

Staff Required – Pre and Post School Care Wicklow Educate Together N.S.

We are currently looking to source staff for a Pre and Post School care facility here at the school from September 2018. Please see separate letter going out to all parents/guardians tomorrow Thursday 3rd May for full details. Working hours are 7.00am – 9.00am and 1pm – 6pm Monday to Friday on a shift rota. Qualifications and experience in childcare required. Please send your CV to [email protected] by Wednesday 23rd May 2018.

Railings – The railings at the front of the school are designed as handrails. We have been advised by the builders that they are not designed to climb on or slide on. They have already been mended this year and we ask that parents supervising their children at the beginning and end of the school day encourage the children to use them as handrails only. Thank you.

Summer Time – Sunny weather is hopefully on its way and please remember to use sunscreen as appropriate to your child. It is our experience that strappy tops, very short shorts and strappy sandals are not suitable for our yard, playtimes and P.E.

Dog Notice – Please note dogs are not permitted on the school grounds at any time except for guide/assistance dogs.

Collection Policy – Please view the collection policy on the school website. Please note that if your child’s pick-up arrangements are altered, the school should be given written authorisation by the parent/guardian. Pupils wishing to leave for any reason during the school day must have a written request by parent/guardian and must be collected and signed out by an adult. This may be sent as an email to [email protected]

RSE (Relationship and Sexuality Education) – Please see school website for our policy and detail of course content for each class. RSE will be covered in all classes before the end of the school year.

Extra-Curricular Term 3 – Reminder that term 3 Extra-curricular fees, April Breakfast Club fees and April homework club fees were due for payment last Friday. Please ensure all outstanding balances are paid by end of school day tomorrow Thursday 3rd May.

IBAN – IE34AIBK93361905417550   BIC – AIBKIE2D

**Please ensure when making payment that you quote ECA/BC or HC and  family name as the payment reference.**

Mobility Committee Update

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Thank you for helping to keep the children safe by following the school safe parking and set down system. However, there is a small, but persistent number of parents who ignore these rules for their own convenience. Parking on the school access road causes serious congestion for other parents, school buses and visitors to the school. Also, ambulances are more than occasionally called to the school and cars parked inappropriately are blocking emergency vehicle access.

Parking on or near pedestrian crossings is a road traffic offence. It puts children at risk as they cannot see oncoming cars, nor can they be seen by drivers. For safety reasons, please do not park on or close to pedestrian crossings.

The staff carpark is for school staff only. Please do not park in the staff carpark at any time during the school day.

Dangerous parking and driving practises on or near school grounds may be recorded and reported to the local Gardaí where necessary.

Please note that parents who persistently disregard these school rules will be contacted by school management to meet and discuss the issue. Safe set down and parking rules are in place to protect our children. Please respect these rules and other road users to help keep our children safe and our school a better place. We would like to remind parents/guardians that the speed limit in the school grounds is 10K.

Write A Book Competition

Congratulations to Sophie in 4th Class and Lilly and Caelin in 5th Class on winning the Write a Book competition this year. Their books were of an outstanding quality. Well done to all the children who took part this year.

Youth Café Wicklow Town

The Youth Cafe in Wicklow Town is running taster sessions for 6th class students again this year – Tuesdays 3-5pm starting on May 1st until June 12th – and we would like to get the word out to all the local schools. We have run these limited sessions for the last couple of years & it has been successful in introducing young people to this free community social space, which they can then avail of regularly once they move on to secondary school.

Bike to School Day – Bike to School Day will take place on Wednesday 13th June. There will be three routes this year, starting in the Grand Hotel, Broomhall Business Park and Hudson’s Garage. There will also be a raffle for a new bicycle to be held to celebrate bike to school day.

Incoming new pupils Sept 2018 Coffee Morning

We will be hosting a coffee morning in the School Hall on 15th June from 9.00-10.30. We will be inviting the parents of incoming Junior infants and the parents of new children joining our older classes in September to come in and meet other parents and get a feel for the school community.

In particular, we would like to invite the parents of this year’s Junior and Senior infants to be on hand to offer sage advice for the incoming families, however as always everyone welcome! If you can please bring a cake or a few buns to soak up the fresh coffee. Younger siblings and next year’s infants more than welcome and a toy corner will be provided.

Sports Day

As you are all aware Parents are very welcome to come to Sports Day in WETNS. This year the PTA would like to organise Fruit snacks and water top up stands for the children to fuel up on the day. If you would like to volunteer to help to supply, prepare or man the stands on the day and are Garda vetted with our school, please let us know what you can do [email protected].

Teddy Bear’s Picnic
