IMPORTANT ADVANCE NOTICES:

Sports Day for Junior Infants – 2nd class will take place here at the school on Tuesday 12th June.

Bike to school day will take place on Wednesday 13th June.

Sports Day for 3rd – 6th class will take place at Wicklow Rugby Club on Thursday 14th June.

Our PTA are hosting a coffee morning in the School Hall on 15th June from 9.00-10.30.

6th Class graduation will take place on Thursday 28th June this year.

Book Rental/Sundries/School Tour Fees

Reminder that book rental and sundries fees are due by this Friday 8th June. The online payment link to pay school tours and book rental/sundries will be resent by email today. We would ask as many families as possible to utilise this online payment tool to reduce the level of administration in the office at this busy time of year.

If you are paying the school tour by cash or cheque, please include the exact amount in an envelope with the consent form and return it to the class teacher.

If you are paying the book rental & sundries by cash or cheque, please include the exact amount in an envelope with the consent form and return it to Fran or Lisa at the school office.

School Rental Books, Library Books, Oxford Reading Tree Books – Please return, at the latest, by 15th June  – All books belonging to the school have a white label on the front stating WENTS Book Rental or WETNS Library. Could you please have a good look around at home and return them to the school? Many thanks.’

Wicklow Educate Together N.S. School Library – Wish List – Please see newsletter attachment for our current Wish List of Books for our school library. It has been drawn up by our 4th Class pupils. Other classes will add to it over time.  If you have a good second-hand copy, or would like to buy a new copy, of any of these books to donate to our library, we would be delighted.  A label will be affixed to the inside cover of the book with the name of the donor and the date.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept any other books, at the moment.

Sports Day

Dear Parents & Guardians, Sports’ Day this year will be held over two days.

Junior Sports’ Day (Junior Infants-2nd class) will take place on Tuesday 12th June on our school grounds. Sports Day will be from 9:00-10:30. After break the children will have their annual Teddy bears’ picnic.

Senior Sports’ Day (3rd class-6th class.) will take place on Thursday 14th June at Wicklow Rugby club. Children will walk down to the rugby ground in their classes from school. Sports Day will be from 11:00-1:30

All parents/guardians are more than welcome to attend both Sports Days. If anyone wishes to volunteer to help run an “Activity station” for either Sports’ Day your help would be much appreciated, just to remind everyone that to help out with an activity on the day, you need to ensure that you are Garda vetted. Many thanks in advance.

Extra-Curricular Term 3

Breakfast Club & Homework Club Fees – Reminder, fees were due last Friday 1st June. If you have not already paid, please make payment on line or at the school office.

Reminder, term 3 of our extra-curricular programme will finish next week, with final classes taking place on Thursday 14th June. We will hold a cookery class on Wed 20th June to make up for the day missed in May.

Summer Camps

WETNS SUMMER CAMP – Join Eileen, Kate & Sally for a Fun, Energetic and Holistic camp. All 5-12 years currently attending Wicklow Educate Together welcome. Arts & Crafts, Cookery, Lego, Gardening, Science, Sewing, Dance, Yoga and much more! 9.30am – 1.30pm Mon – Friday. €90.00 per week or €170.00 for 2 weeks. €10.00 sibling discount. Registration form available at the school office.

Week 1 – 16th – 20th July. Week 2 – 23rd – 27th July.

SUGARCRAFT SUMMER CAMP – Create Sugarcraft animals in their own habitat using sugarpaste. Decorate Summer themed cupcakes and make your own chocolate flowers. All tools and materials supplied. All children age 9 – 12 welcome. 10am – 2pm Mon – Friday. €130.00 per week. Contact Gina to book a place 087 844 9396.

Week 1 – 16th – 20th July. Week 2 – 23rd – 27th July.

Wicklow Town Secondary School Action Group – An Action Group made up of parents from our school was set up a number of weeks ago, based on responses from the letter sent out to our school community last month. The purpose of this group is to run a campaign to secure the Educate Together patronage of the new secondary school which has been announced for Wicklow Town (opening September 2019).

All parents from WETNS are welcome to become involved in this volunteer group. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or are able to assist the group in any way, please email [email protected].

There will be an open evening held in WETNS before the end of term providing an overview of how an Educate Together Secondary School works and will include an update from the Campaign regarding work to date and all available information from the DES will be provided. The date and time for this meeting will be communicated shortly.

Young Scientist Competition Belfast – Congratulations to all the 6th class pupils who exhibited in the Young Scientist Competition in Belfast this week. See photo attached!

Tesco blue coins – WETNS is in for a chance of winning up to €1,000 thanks to Tesco Blue Coin Collection. Please support us by dropping your blue coins into the Wicklow Educate Together slot at the shop exit.

Communion/Confirmation – We would like to wish all the very best to the children from WETNS who made their Communion on 3rd June and who will make their Confirmation on the 10th June.

PTA UPDATE

Bike to School Day – Bike to School Day will take place on Wednesday 13th June. There will be three routes this year, starting in the Grand Hotel (meeting time 8am), Broomhall Business Park (meeting time 8am)  and Hudson’s Garage (meeting time 8.15am). Please ensure your child has a helmet. Hi vis clothing preferable. If you would like to help on the day and are Garda vetted with our school, we are looking for volunteers to ride along with the children, 3 escort cars and help at the school to hand out fruit refreshments and help with the bike parking. There will also be a raffle for a new bicycle to be held to celebrate bike to school day. Please email us on [email protected] letting us know where you can help. We already have a few teacher volunteers onboard their bikes so we’re hoping our parents can also dust off their high nellies!!!!

Coffee and Cake Morning 15th June 9.00-10.30

We will be hosting a coffee morning in the School Hall on 15th June from 9.00-10.30. We have invited  the parents of incoming Junior infants and the parents of new children joining our older classes in September to come in and meet other parents and get a feel for the school community.

In particular, we would like to invite the parents of this year’s Junior and Senior infants to be on hand to offer sage advice for the incoming families, however as always everyone is more than welcome! If you can please bring a cake or a few buns to soak up the fresh coffee. Younger siblings and next year’s infants more than welcome and a toy corner will be provided.

Sports Day

As you are all aware Parents are very welcome to come to Sports Day in WETNS. This year the PTA would like to organise Fruit snacks and water top up stands for the children to fuel up on each day. If you would like to volunteer to help to supply, prepare or man the stands on the day and are Garda vetted with our school, please let us know what you can do [email protected].

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

This year’s teddy bears picnic will be held on Saturday August 25th from 11-1pm in the Abbey Grounds, Wicklow. All welcome – bring your Teddy Bears!!!

Parent Training Courses

We’ve had two excellent sessions from Sharon Hayden from the National Parents Council on Your Child’s Mental Wellbeing and Helping you children build healthy friendships and relationships.

We’ve booked the three-night course on Helping your child build healthy friendships and relationships for September, Monday nights starting Monday Sept 10th, 17th & 24th. Spaces on this course are limited to maximum 15 places and you must be available for the three nights. Please send expressions of interest to [email protected]. Places will be offered on a first come first served basis based on time of receipt of your email. You will be contacted in August to confirm you are available for the three dates in September. There will be a €5 charge for this course.There are also a number of FREE online training courses available for all on the NPC website.
