Library Volunteers & Donors – A Huge Thank You

Thanks to all our library volunteers who have helped at different times this academic year. You have been a tremendous help with both our Book Rental Scheme and our Library. Thanks to you, we have continued to build our stock of books. Together we have enabled many of our pupils to read a great variety of books, as most classes now have a weekly library visit. Many pupils have developed an interest in reading for the first time. There are great pupil discussions about favourite authors, genres and books … and appeals to me to continue to source their requested books!

We look forward to developing our library further each year.

Thank you so much.

Paula

Educate Together Wicklow Secondary School Campaign (Update 20th June 2017)

The local Wicklow Educate together campaign for patronage of the new secondary school opening in September 2019 is in full swing, we have over 30 volunteers. But the most important thing is for everyone to be drumming up support with your friends and family.

Open Meeting: To be held in WETNS on Tuesday 26th of June from 7.30pm – 8.30pm; all are welcome, this is a great opportunity to bring along parents who are undecided, so they can hear about how amazing an ET Secondary School is. We will have representatives from North Wicklow Educate Together Secondary School including parents and students, so it will be a very informative meeting.

Patronage submission: Educate together have confirmed they submitted an application to the department of education for the patronage of the planned new secondary school for Wicklow, opening in September 2019. We currently have no confirmation from the department of education of the other bodies that may have submitted patronage but will update you once this is known.

Expressions of Interest: We are still waiting for the process to be announced by the department of education, getting the maximum number of expressions of interest will be critical to how successful the campaign is. As soon as we have this information we will communicate it.

A big thanks to everyone who has already been actively involved and are starting the canvassing with family and friends, every conversation matters.

If you want to get involved be kept updated on progress of the campaign team email [email protected]  For more information please visit our website https://wetss.wordpress.com to follow our campaign, follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/wicklow.etss.7), or on our Twitter feed (@WicklowETSS).

Bike to School Day
Thanks to all the students and parents who participated in Bike to School Day! Across the 3 different routes, about 60 students biked to school! Well done! Thank you to all the parents who made this possible, especially those who cycled along with the students! Thank you to all the teachers who made this day possible by cycling with the 3 different groups, cutting up fruit (which everyone enjoyed at the end!), hanging up bunting, and giving us a wonderful reception at the school.
The bike raffle will be held on Thursday, 21 June. Results will be announced.

Coffee Morning
Thanks to all who came to our coffee morning last Friday – your bakes and presence were wonderful! There was a great group of parents and it was appreciated especially by the incoming parents and their children. Thank you!
