Wicklow Educate Together National School Board of Management Meeting Tuesday 26th November 2019 Report to the school community

EAL Post has been sanctioned for the year on a fixed term basis
2 teachers Niamh Byrne and Emily Hand will undertake the droichead process of teacher induction.
Pre-enrolment numbers for 2019
The statistics were returned to the DES. They showed that we currently have 415 pupils enrolled of which 411 are eligible for capitation.
Inspector – On Wednesday 16th October the Inspector, Edel Corcoran, will visit the school.
A new caretaker will be appointed in November.
The hot water is working again, although there may be an issue with the temperature in some taps
Some new leaks have emerged in the school. This comes under “Emergency works.” And an application for this will need to be made. Koryne will get engineer’s report to confirm that the works can go ahead.
The yard and the heating issues have gone to tender. The Board need to appoint a consultant for the building extension
Water Boiler & roof leaks discussed.
Percent for Art – to receive the payment for the final instalment from the School Building Unit, they require written confirmation that it meets criteria from the Arts Committee and a report with full details of the project including photographic evidence.
The care team set up last year, will not continue. There is scope for the care team to be re-established if necessary. According to behaviour logs, there has been an improvement in behaviour since the start of the new school year.
The Code of Behaviour will be sent out to parents for feedback before ratification.
Special Needs policy and Enrolment policy are being worked on for future meetings.
After school activities will now begin after the mid-term half break.
A letter regarding Parent Nomination to the BOM will be sent to parents tomorrow.
