Wicklow Educate Together NS – Plan for the Week Ahead
Dear school community
Please see below our plan for the week ahead to help keep you informed of what is happening in our school.
Important Dates: The school will be closed for the October mid-term from Monday 30th October – Friday 3rd November inclusive. Friday October 27th is an ordinary school day (not an early closure).
Board of Management Parent Elections – A reminder that the closing date for return of the BOM female/male parent nomination form is Friday 27th October.
Enrolments 2024/2025 – The admission notice for school year 2024/2025 is now available to view on our school website. The school will commence accepting applications for admission on Monday 23rd October and will cease accepting application for admission on Monday 20th November at 2pm. See attached. A reminder to families with a sibling due to start school in September 2024 to complete the online application form.

Friday 27th October Dress Up – The children are invited to dress up if they wish and bring €2 on the day and a small treat (not for sharing) with their lunch. Dressing up is optional and if some children are not comfortable dressing up, they can wear their normal clothes to school on the day. We ask that costumes are practical and easy for your child to manage throughout the school day-for the bathroom, the stairs, the yard, sitting in a classroom-for that reason high heels and inflatable costumes are not allowed. No scary costumes, props, weapons or masks please. Our experience is that some children find clown costumes extremely scary. The emphasis is on fun not frightening. All proceeds from dress up will be used to purchase classroom board games.
Dogs –are not allowed on school grounds with the exception of assistive dogs
Vaping/Smoking – no vaping or smoking on school grounds, including in cars.
Irish Blood Transfusion Service Clinic – The Irish Blood Transfusion Service clinic will take place here at the school Wednesday 25th October and Thursday 26th October from 5pm – 8.30pm (see flyer attached).
Monday 23rd October
Our admission notice for school year 2024/2025 is now available to view on our school website. Online applications can be submitted from Monday 23rd October.
Taitneamh homework for all 4th, 5th and 6th classes. The children will present their taitneamh homework on Fri 27th (see flyer attached).
Tuesday 24th October
Avondale Cross Country Run – consent requests will be sent out today.
5th Class Green library visit
Wednesday 25th October
6th class green swimming during the school day. Reminder to all 6th class parents to ensure children bring some extra lunch on Wednesdays as the children are always hungry after swimming. This will be the last swimming lesson for 6th class.
4th Class Green library visit
Thursday 26th October
6th class blue swimming during the school day. Reminder to all 6th class parents to ensure children bring some extra lunch on Thursdays as the children are always hungry after swimming. This will be the last swimming lesson for 6th class.
4th Class Blue library visit
5th Class Sea Safari Trip – please ensure that you have given consent.
