Health and Safety Suggestions from Mobility Subcommittee
Colour coding/painting curbs to distinguish bus, disabled, set down areas – approved
6th class ushers to assist with drop off- approved
Parent volunteers to assist with drop-off – approved – suggested garda vetting as with all volunteers.
Maintenance Agreements –Lightning Protection System and Falls Protection System, contact with DES buildings required. Walkthrough on snags needed including yard ponding.
SEAI reporting for 2016 is complete
Fire Warden Training complete – 5 staff trained
Communication guide-staff input required
Other items that came from communications discussion/process:
1. Adopted that highlights from BOM meeting minutes be put in newsletter following meetings with date of next meeting
2. Aladdin Parent Portal Options
3. Working groups and subcommittees should put a short paragraph in newsletter after each meeting with highlights and next meeting date.
Positive Behaviour Policy was ratified & admissions policy final changes complete,& sent to ET for official review and comment.
In line with school policy senior infants, 1st classes, 2nd classes & 4th classes will be reformed-communication will issue to parents 4/May (tomorrow)
The principal has met with other local principals regarding a common acceptance date to reduce pupil acceptance duplication.
DES Circulars The following were highlighted-Guidance for Schools on Good Procurement Practices, Main Redeployment Panels Circular 0009/2017 & Circular 0032/2017 – Measures to be adopted by schools to reduce the cost of school uniforms and other costs
Educate Together ET AGM. Chairperson to present WETNS motion at the AGM 0n May 20th
‘This AGM calls on the Board of Directors to recognise the knowledge and expertise gained by many ET schools in both managing their moves into new school buildings, and the subsequent necessary creation of various maintenance systems and programmes, and asks for the establishment of a mechanism or group to consolidate and share this information with all ET schools, with a particular focus on those schools who are moving or have recently moved into new school buildings’.
The Board agreed to fund teachers interested in completing ET summer courses in the Learn Together Programme
Percent for Art – Shared draft of brief to be rolled out for project. Discussed any areas which should not be considered for project – ASD unit.
PA Report PA training to take place on 5th May by the NPC
Afterschool Activities Breakfast Club -Research is being done into the feasibility of a breakfast club in the hall. An application to an POBOL will be made for capital works assistance to develop After Schools provision at the school.
