Wicklow Educate Together National School Board of Management Meeting 17th January 2017- Report to the School Community

Brendan O’Connor The BoM acknowledged the significant contribution that Brendan O’Connor had on our school and wished to express our sadness at his recent death. The school will close for a half day as a mark of respect on the day of Brendan’s funeral. There will be a minute’s silence at the Friday assembly.
Premises Maintenance Agreements, ongoing progress being made.
Percent for Art Next meeting 30th January
Health and Safety Aryton Health and Safety consultants will be appointed to carry out the Health and Safety audit. Some issues around unsafe road use and practices in the environs of the school were discussed.
School transport Advert will be placed next week for a bus escort on the new Arklow Route.
After school report – Registration day planned for January 27th. Clubs to start on January 30th. Rental of hall to local choir underway.
Snag list – ongoing. Most electrical issues have been resolved. Leak in roof resolved. Other issues remain outstanding. Regular contact is maintained with the project manager on the matter.
Enrolments 2017/18 There will be an open event for new parents before the Easter holidays.
School policies The Board have agreed to review current enrolment policy. Sinéad and Kenia will meet to discuss.
Sub-committees Guidelines on sub-committees and working groups were discussed. It was agreed that mobility, IT and SEN would be the most pressing needs. There may also be engagement with the Student Council.
Finance A new accountant has been appointed.
ET Report Forum on January 28th in Lucan – working group will look at different aspects affecting Educate Together.
PTA Ten people have nominated themselves for new committee. AGM will be on January 26th.
The BoM also considered some routine matters, which for reasons of confidentiality are not included in this report
