Pupils have the option of coming to school DRESSED IN COSTUME.  Please ensure child’s name is on any detachable accessories or hats.  Please no sticks, swords, forks, or other poking implements.  CREEPY COSTUME PARADE during assembly in school hall between 9.00 – 10.00.

COSTUME RE-CYCLING RAIL:  If your child has a costume they have outgrown or no longer wear why not donate it to the costume recycling rail in the foyer?  There will be no price tags but we would ask that you make a small donation of a couple of euro for costumes.

All classes will attend at MONSTER BAKE SALE throughout the day.  Maximum spend per child €2.  Baking homework on Thursday evening.  Please NO NUTS OR STRAWBERRIES and if you make something allergy-tolerant please mark it accordingly.  Baking will be taken in outside the front entrance door nearest to Rocky Road on Friday morning.  If you want your container back please mark with name and mobile number.

ALLERGY ALERT:  If your child has an allergy please ensure that the school office has the details before Friday morning.  We cannot be responsible for your child eating something they shouldn’t at the bake sale if we don’t know about it and it is not safe to assume the child will tell us themselves.

PARENTS COFFEE MORNING between 10.15 – 11.30 on Friday morning.  All welcome (little siblings, too!) if you fancy dropping down for a cuppa and a chat.  Parents will have the option of attending the bake sale between 10.30 – 11.00 and at 1.30 pm collection time.

Helpers needed. We still have a few gaps between 11 – 12.30 if you can lend a hand for half an hour on the bake sale or coffee morning between 10.00 – 11.30.  Contact Yvonne on 089 418 5867 or [email protected].

All proceeds from Spraoi na Samnha will go towards funding playground equipment and facilities.

LIONS CLUB PUB QUIZ-WEDNESDAY, 2nd NOVEMBER in ERNIE’S BAR, MARKET SQUARE     Once again the Lions Club have very kindly included WETNS in their list of beneficiaries for a pub quiz.  Tables of 4, €40 per table.  We will be required to put in at least 8 tables so start gathering your allies together (or just turn up on the night and we’ll make up tables from whoever is available.)   It would be useful to know how many people we can expect so if would you let Yvonne know on 089 418 5867 or [email protected] if you think you can make it.

Sincere apologies for an omission from the PTA Meeting minutes which went out yesterday.  A discussion was had during the meeting regarding the travel and safety group (see details elsewhere in this newsletter).  Also if you did not receive a copy of the minutes please contact [email protected] and we will send you out a copy.  We are experiencing some issues with the PTA mailbox at present.

The Student Council play a very important role in our school life.  They provide good communication between the student body and staff, and are an essential element in the organisation of events throughout the year.  All children on the Student Council were elected as part of a fair and democratic process which saw all candidates make an election speech.  Across all classes, these speeches were inspiring and well thought out and all children/candidates are to be commended on their efforts!

Already, members of the council have met on two separate occasions to discuss school life and to develop ideas further.  Please keep an eye on the Student Council notice board, located outside Fran’s office, for the minutes of our meetings and details of our ongoing work!
