Friday 27th November
Dear school community
School Closure – the school will close for holidays at 12.30pm on Tuesday 22nd December for all pupils. The school will reopen on Wednesday 6th January 2021.
Message from Sinéad – Every year at this time in WETNS we all look forward to coming together to celebrate the end of term and this very special time of the year. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions we won’t be able to host our annual end of term show this year. The children have all been working so hard this term and we are delighted that each class will be showcasing some of this lovely work and putting together their own celebration to share with their families. These will be compiled as a video of each class and they will be sent out during the last week of term. We hope that you enjoy viewing these and ask that you ensure that you can log onto your child’s seesaw account and that you give your permission via Aladdin for the video recording of your child as part of these performances -these Aladdin Permissions will be sent out next week.
Parent Teacher Meetings 2020/2021 – Parent teacher meetings ordinarily would be hosted at this time of the year. This year, due to covid restrictions face to face parent cannot be held in school. In lieu of this the following arrangement will take place for this school year only.
- A mid-year written report will be sent for each child before mid-term break in February. This will be in addition to the full written report that we always send each June.
- Parents can request a phone call with the class/support teacher at this time, and teachers may wish to contact parents via phone at this time also.
- As always please contact [email protected] if you need to discuss your child’s progress and a staff member will follow up with you
Halloween Dress Up Day – Amount collected was €504, many thanks to all who contributed, proceeds will go directly to pupil resources.
School Calendar – Despite the current circumstances, we are delighted to let you know that we have been able to produce the ever-popular school calendar again this year. Please keep an eye out for information on how to purchase the calendar over the next few days.
Admissions Policy – Our new admission policy and our 2021/2022 admission notice is now available on our school website www. wicklowetns.com.
Cold Weather – Coming into the colder weather please ensure children are dressed appropriately for the weather including waterproof jackets or coats, hats and scarves. Please remember they will be outside more often even on wet days. We have noticed that all-in-one hats that have scarves with gloves at the end tend to cause more bumps to the head if a child falls. This is because they often have their hands in the gloved part and cannot take them out quickly enough to break a fall. We are asking for your cooperation in not sending these types of hats into school this winter please. If children are wearing boots please can they be ones in which they can walk and run safely. Snow boots, UGGs and some fashion boots tend not to allow this in our experience. Thank you.
Healthy Eating – As the school encourages healthy eating we ask that children do not bring fizzy drinks, chewing gum or crisps to school. Pupils can bring in a small treat on a Friday if they wish.
Headlice – We continue to urge all parents/guardians to check your child/children’s hair and treat headlice as a matter of urgency. Please where possible tie long hair back.
Dogs – We would like to remind parents that dogs are not permitted on the premises at any time.
No Climbing – Please ensure that children do not climb on the railings at the front of the school building.
No Smoking or Vaping – We would like to remind all that there is no smoking or vaping on school grounds.
