Wicklow Educate Together NS – Plan for the Week Ahead
Dear school community
Thank you to all the parents who came to the Coffee Morning today. We will
share a full update from this morning’s meeting in the Plan for the Week next
week. As discussed at the meeting anyone interested in getting involved in the
school garden a meeting will take place at 9am on Friday 19th January.
Please see below our plan for the week ahead to help keep you informed of
what is happening in our school.
Important Dates:
School closed for Bank Holiday Monday 5th February. Mid-term break – school
is closed Thursday and Friday 15th & 16th February.
Say Yes to Languages 2023/2024 – We are delighted to let you know that the
school will take part in the Say Yes to Languages module. This will provide the
pupils of 5th and 6th class with a 10 week taster in learning French.
The programme will start next Tuesday 16th January, with teacher Sinead
Thewlis Jordon. Your child will receive their own language passport which will
accompany them throughout their journey of learning the additional
language as well as a language fun fold-out full of facts, figures, vocabulary and
games in French.
This programme is funded by the Department of Education. Resources and

5th Class Swimming – Swimming at Coral Leisure will begin in January for both
5th classes on Thursday 18th January. Swimming fees must be paid in full
Reminder through Aladdin by Wed 31st January.
Sherpa Kids February Mid Term Camp – Sherpa Kids will hold a February midterm camp here at the school on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th February. See
full details on the attached flyer.
Irish Blood Transfusion Service Clinic – The Irish Blood Transfusion Service
clinic will take place here at the school on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th
January from 5pm – 8.30pm. Please contact 1800 731 137 to book an
appointment. See flyer attached.
Cleaning/Housekeeping Vacancies – We are currently recruiting for cleaning
and housekeeping staff here at the school. Please see advertisement attached.
We would ask that you please share this information with anyone who may be
interested in applying for these positions. Please see the attached for further
information.
PTA AGM – The PTA AGM will take place on Wednesday 21st of February at
7.30pm in the main hall. The AGM is for all members of the PTA and will
include updates on activities of the PTA committee throughout the year, such
as the winter fair, etc.
Each parent and guardian of children attending Wicklow Educate Together N.S.
are a part of the PTA and coming to the AGM is a great opportunity to hear
more about what is going on within the school and opportunities to get
involved. Nominations to join the PTA committee will be accepted until Friday
9th of February. A parent or guardian can nominate themselves by emailing
[email protected].
The Winter Fair was a great success and we are so pleased to announce that
the fair and raffle made €5380.01. A big thank you to everyone who donated a
raffle prize or volunteered on fair day to help. Events like this wouldn’t be able
to go ahead without this support. Please see attached a list of all raffle prize
winners.
School Calendars – we have a small number of school calendars which can be
purchased from the school office.

Deadline for return of completed Junior Infant Vaccination Consent Forms.
Tuesday 16th January
French Lessons 5th & 6th Classes
Wednesday 17th January
Thursday 18th January
5th class swimming during the school day. Reminder to all 5th class parents to
ensure children bring some extra lunch on Thursdays as the children are always
hungry after swimming.
Friday 19th January
School Garden – a meeting will take place at 9am for anyone interested in
getting involved with the school garden
