Brendan Memorial Ideas Brendan O’Connor was a very dear friend of our school community and a man who embraced the spirit of Wicklow Educate Together. We wish to mark his valuable contribution to our school and invite the school community to submit their thoughts/suggestions/ideas around how they would envision that happening. We will have a suggestion box in the school foyer from Monday 15th May and look forward to seeing your suggestions.
School Garden Design All classes spent time in the school garden this week. The idea behind this was to engage in some planting, familiarise the children with the space and to get them thinking about some of the things which they might like to see in the school garden. A big thank you to all of our garden volunteers who helped to organise on the day! The children had a wonderful time and we have already received some wonderful designs for the garden. Remember design templates are available in the school foyer and we invite all interested students/parents/staff to complete one and return to the garden postbox located in the school foyer. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to use all the lovely designs submitted; however, all of the plans will form a folder of ‘Garden Ideas’, which we may use for further development of the garden in the future. The closing date for submissions in May 26th. We look forward to working with all everyone to create an inspiring and educational space that the children will love using. If you have any queries or wish to get in touch with the committee, please email us at [email protected]
Breakfast Club Survey As we begin the last term of the school year in our new school building and following the successful rollout of our extra-curricular activities programme, we continue to look at ways to support our school community. We are currently looking at the possibility of starting a breakfast club in the first term of the new school year 2017/2018. This breakfast club would only be available to children enrolled in Wicklow Educate Together N.S. We would greatly appreciate if you would take a few minutes to click on the link below and complete the short survey if you are interested in utilising a breakfast club. As this survey will be used to analyse interest levels for the new school year we would ask that only families who will have children in the school in September 2017 complete the survey. If you have any questions or queries, please contact [email protected]

Please contact Janice Doyle ([email protected], 0868703827) or Jenny Dunne([email protected], 0863854411) if you can help or if you have any questions.

Letter from local TD I wanted to take this opportunity to write you a brief note to congratulate all the children, teachers and parents of Wicklow Educate Together School that took part in the Wicklow St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2017. I hope you enjoyed your day taking part as much as the crowd did watching you. I was delighted to hear that you were the winners of Best Fancy Dress at this year’s parade and it was certainly another fantastic year of celebrations in Wicklow for St Patrick’s Day. I understand that there were a lot of entries and friendly competition; you all should be very proud of walking away deserved winners!
Percent for Art Committee The Percent for Art Committee has been diligently working on a Brief where artists can make submissions with ideas of their vision for Art that represents the vitality that is WETNS. Christine and Eileen worked with teachers and students to facilitate a mind-mapping exercise whereby posters were created in each class with words that expressed what WETNS meant to students and staff. Additionally, Christine is working on an Art Box to receive submissions from students and the school community with ‘What can you imagine in the school’. Both of these exercises will hopefully provide inspiration to artists for their submissions. We are keeping an archive of all these works. We are hoping to have the Brief ready for roll-out by the end of May.
Homework Club As we begin our last term of the school year, we would like to advise parents/guardians that our Homework Club will finish on Thursday 1st of June. If you have any queries in relation to this, please contact me at [email protected] From September 2017 onwards, the Homework Club will form part of the Extra Curricular Activities programme. A detailed note will be sent out to all those currently attending in the next few weeks.
